Manhattan Experts with Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation, performed by Matthew Spiegel, MD
Overview:
Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation is a neuromodulatory technology engineered to treat chronic pain in specific areas of the body by delivering electrical impulses to the dorsal root ganglions, which are collections of nerve cells located near the spinal cord. The goal of DRG stimulation is to modify or regulate transmission of pain signals from the peripheral nerves to the central nervous system, effectively reducing pain perception. DRG stimulation is considered a minimally invasive procedure, and the stimulation device is implanted through a small incision near the lower back and can be adjusted as needed. DRG stimulation has been shown effective in treating chronic pain conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, chronic low back pain and “sciatica.”
