Manhattan Experts with Medial Branch Blocks, performed by Matthew Spiegel, MD
Overview:
Medial branch blocks are used to treat chronic neck and lower back pain caused by arthritis in the facet joints. These joints are situated in the back of the spine and help with movement, control, and stability. When arthritis takes hold in these joints, it can cause persistent pain. A medial branch block is often used diagnostically to confirm the source of the pain, while simultaneously providing significant relief.
