Manhattan Experts with Joint Injections, performed by Matthew Spiegel, MD

Overview:

Joint injections may be recommended for individuals who are experiencing joint pain, swelling, or inflammation that is not responding to other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy, over-the-counter pain medication, or hot/cold therapy. The purpose of a joint injection is to reduce pain and inflammation in the joint and thereby improve its function and mobility. Joint injections can be performed in various articulations of the body, including the knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow. Furthermore, joint injections may consist of local anesthetic, steroid, hyaluronic acid, and PRP (platelet rich plasma). Some common conditions that may benefit from a joint injection include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis, tendinitis, joint injury or frozen shoulder.
